Flight 1149, Delayed

Flight 1149, Delayed

A Poem by Haunzwürthe
"

I had a stupid late flight the other night and this is what came out of my sore back.

"

Exhaustion.

It was choking my brain.

Not able to sleep,

Not able to wake.

My consciousness firmly planted

Between these two worlds.

Pinging thoughts racked

My mind, more numerous

Than the falling flakes outside.

The terminal bench sent

Its murderous metal bars

Into my back.

Frustration piled with the

Snow as I tossed to find

That spot.

The pack, as my pillow,

Shot aching complaints down my neck.

This was wrong.

Too many problems I could not

Solve. I should not be here.

The people, the job, the demands,

It was all too much.

What was the point?

I saw you.

Slowly taking over my grimace,

Your smile swept a calm over

My tense body.

It was then that I dreamt...

Well, thankfully I don't know what it's like to have a sore back from sleeping uncomfortably yet! Haha, anyways, my step-mom travels a lot and she has told me how frustrating it is to just sit and wait in the airport. To have this poem come out of that simple happening is wonderful.
