Lost in familiar places

Lost in familiar places

A Poem by Heart hacker

How could I be so lost,
In a place I know so well?
How could I be so broken,
In a heart that once loved so well?

How could I be so lonely,
When I'm surrounded by many?
How could I see myself as a mystery?
Hurt and pain, there's so much to gain.

It's all the same - confusion and doubts.
We love, we cry, we plead,
We try, only to be hurt.
When all we hear are empty promises and lies,
That leave behind broken hearts.

When trust is gone and hope is lost,
What are we fighting for?
And who pays the cost?
