Moon

this is how i feel about the sky and what happens when i look up.

The moon shines luminously like it knows me and what happened to me 

Like it knows me 

Wrapping the obsidian sky with diamonds in a blanket around me 

It’s white yolky roundness shines down 

And I’d spend all night on the roof curling my fingers around it as if to hold it as my own

Knight, queen, king and prince

The moon is my royalty and ‘neath it’s presence i feel whole 

Holy, even 

The moon shines luminously like it’s my friend and mother 

And my father and my lover 

It warms my heart and I’d reach up into the sky, grab it and kiss it like 

It’s my very own

Love….

i love the moon

Thank you, Davidgeo. I just recently watched the music video, ‘Reflection’, and it was quite captivating. I loved how the tendrils of the human brain were “pining away” (get the reference?) and yearning for the moon’s presence. The lyrics felt similarly to my poem in almost every way possible! Thanks for interesting this to me. I now have a new favorite song.
