The Rest Is Unwritten

The Rest Is Unwritten

A Poem by Alicia Nicole

Now I lay me down to sleep

As I close my eyes unseen

Enter now where I must dream

I find myself lost among the thoughts I wish never to think

Wake up in a coma of heart broken thieves

One must wonder how her heart can steal beat

How her wings can still lift her from the shadowy depths.

How everything is never as it seems

One must take and consume her wonders as they haunt her everyday

A shadowed scream pierces my ears with an all too familiar ring

I could sacrifice my heart and soul for you

Every time I fall back into your arms

All my strength leaks from eyes and builds into a vast puddle

Just like the blood that slowly drips from every crevice

I feel like I have left it all unfinished.
