Fireflies

Fireflies

A Poem by Honeypot
"

Thanks to Sugarbear for the idea.

"

In nightgown chasing
Fireflies
As they hide in summer nights
    Glowing they appear
Briefly
    Before fading in shadows

Lighthearted and lovely images. Simple pleasures we seemingly forget about all too often; like the proverbial high dollar toy for a child, whom ends up playing and loving the box. Or simply taking a deep breath and looking at the sky for a few minutes.

Thank you for giving us a time out from the day for such a relaxing and happy image.

I do wonder though what happened to the other version!! :))

Reminds me of children playing blissfully, not a care in the world... only to see the world. Very nicely written. K

Pretty words in an interesting form ...soft, peaceful feelings ... daydreams of summer nights.

A wonderful, childhood memory ... beautiful!

I love fireflies. One summer a couple of summers ago we were on our front porch and a firefly was caught in a spiderweb. It was really weird I have never seen that before. Very beautiful poem reminds me of being young.

Ah, the bugs of summer, with the fire in their tails.

Fireflies are very special. I have seen them in Africa glowing briefly as rhey dance in the long grass under talll coconut palms. Somehow here they are an image for the transience of bright things. Nicely done.
