In childhood, shadows of want,
In youth, no work �" no job in hand.
Love, in a home of need,
Slips out the window, silent and unseen,
Leaving behind a hope wrapped in smoke.

From birth until the final breath,
A mind weighed down by thoughts of shelter,
A belly counting meals,
A weary heart chasing work �"
And losing daily to the clock of time.
