The glowing light. (rhyme poem)

The glowing light. (rhyme poem)

A Poem by Relic

Image result for shadow on the chair

The yellow sunlight ~ bright and warm
crawled one morning on my bedroom floor
was sluggish as a sleeper stretching his form
creep~creep~creeping to the bedroom door.

Then, after knowing it could not stay
from the glowing chair, it seemed to say
'life is a light that flickers away
doused by demise through speed or decay

Soon, the light faded under the door
replaced by a darkness ~ yet all the more
the yellow sunlight, as though by lure
departed somewhere ~ but to where ~ I'm not sure

~Pausing to ponder the sadness of such a short existence for the day, the sun slipped into the unknown of the darkness. Just as we too will depart one day to somewhere, after our light on this earth has finally faded.~

I have thought it over a hundred times. I have come to the conclusion that if life is short and death is finite then there has to be some reason for dying. Maybe there is an afterlife, maybe we are reborn, etc...the point is that perhaps this life is not our only one. Stars are born and they die, but they never truly disappear. We are all made of this star stuff and we play a part in shaping other stars as well. With a universe so infinite, literally everything is possible. I believe that life is infinite.

Thank you Ella.
Having lost the light in my life 2 years ago, I know one day I will follow it out of human sight into God's glory. Valentine

Good for you Valentine, thank you.
Perhaps the light just went into storage beneath the door until the morrow when it would reappear once more!

dear Relic... Your poem has echo's of
"The Raven never more".
When we leave, the light or spirit
of our soul passes to a place
we someday will know.
Beautiful poetry. truly... Pat

That photo dances with light and shadow, and it resonates beautifully with every word you've written here.

There's nothing to change...please leave the chair as is! And thank you for the pondering thoughts at the end! So true and so poetic!

I'm grateful you like it. Thanks so much Isobel.
Our light, like energy will never die, just changes form. No matter where it goes after life...our memories will live on in all we have touched. Dim or gleaming radiant beams. We will live on. It is always a pleasure to view the spectacular imagery in your poems, Relic. Like viewing a painting. Truly beautiful.
