~Pausing to ponder the sadness of such a short existence for the day, the sun slipped into the unknown of the darkness. Just as we too will depart one day to somewhere, after our light on this earth has finally faded.~
I have thought it over a hundred times. I have come to the conclusion that if life is short and death is finite then there has to be some reason for dying. Maybe there is an afterlife, maybe we are reborn, etc...the point is that perhaps this life is not our only one. Stars are born and they die, but they never truly disappear. We are all made of this star stuff and we play a part in shaping other stars as well. With a universe so infinite, literally everything is possible. I believe that life is infinite.

Everyone needs something to believe in...
Thank you for a great review.
Such a fantastic piece of personification. I felt sorry for that light, but there is much he gives before he goes. Beyond that, you play with rhyme and word is wonderful. I like a poet who is not afraid to rhyme.

Yes, light and dark translates to living and dying and it is when this light fades too soon that we note its passing with a greater sense of regret and deeper pangs of remorse. I lost a 16 year old son in a car accident, and when I did it was if the sun stopped shining, as if a solar eclipse had happened on that very second we learned he would not survive brain death.
The shadows may loom far too long for some and they may beg for death to come and carry them away, and yet their pleas for mercy are not granted. Why? I have not the answers but I have many questions. You study this in a way that makes sense to me. Your words are poignant and give one cause to think of what the sunlight really means to the living and how void one's world is of it when the darkness falls.........forever!

You interpretation of the poem is spot on. I'm happy you were able to find meaning within the words. It's a pleasure and always an honer to have a writer such as yourself read anything of mine.

And it is my pleasure as well to read your words!!
Darkly philosophical and absorbing, the metaphorical contrasts, light/life, dark/death, make for excellent poetic writing & reading ! kudos to you Sir !
Your words are true. Need to enjoy the day. Life goes by too quickly. Old age taught me to enjoy the good moments and release the bad. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

So sad in the demise of the sunlight... the darkness has taken over...
You have written this in a way that takes me to a lonely vision, very emotional in the draining of light... "Life is so short, then, we go away"~ I wish to express further, but that would be something I would need to let settle in my mind... Intriguing write.~xo~
So this probably wasn't the best one to before I sleep... If I have nightmares I'm blaming you! Ha, kidding....or am I?
Alot of tension and suspense in this! Very creepy but I liked it! It was very well written and yeah, it scared me too! :-O
