A brand new me.

A brand new me.

A Poem by Relic

I had myself a belly
that hung way past my belt.
I went on all the diets,
but nothing seemed to help.

I walked awhile in the mornings,
for fresh air and a run.
All I got was hunger pangs
for all the work I'd done.

I bought a video DVD
to expedite my needs,
but lifting weights was useless,
twisting both my knees.

Then I discovered yoga,
a life-changing theme.
Now my leg can twist around
to rub my back for me.

At last, I'm feeling better;
I've thrown away my stress.
I seem to be more limber
while weighing so much less.

But what I'd really like to have,
If I was to be fair,
would be to finally find a cure
for all this loss of hair.

Thanks for reading.
This made me laugh! What else can we do when our bodies suddenly really betray us, by losing hair or if you're a women gaining it on your face(!), Gaining weight, peeing your pants when you laugh(at poems like this one) and the many additional betrayals our bodies can come up with! Love the way you put it in rhyme!

I'm so glad you liked it Barbara, thanks for reading. :)
And the crowd goes wild with the last four lines of the poem! I think many of us either can or will relate to this in some way at some point in our lives. Sometimes, we all just fall down into a rut. I know I certainly did for while, both writing wise and life wise. But people tend to have more power than they actually think they have, and are able to pull themselves back out eventually. Others just need some additional support to get them going. Your way with flow never stops impressing me, Relic. :)

Glad you enjoyed. :)
Great writing about your reality. You have changed the outward appearance now work on the inward individual. Love yourself for you and not wait on the approbation of other. Love yourself for what and who you are no matter what your appearance may be.

Thanks very much Howard.
Charming and humorous. This poem was fun to read, and the rhyme scheme was so spot-on I didn't even notice it the first read-through.

I love this. Charming and sweet write. I love the rhythm and flow in this. I kind of forgotten, how to rhyme like this. Well done. And hey, many of us, may not be aging gracefully, but at least we can age with humor. haha Love the yoga part. And hair loss? No problem. bald is In...:)

Ah, we can go through all diets and health purges yet there is always something we have no control over until we are happy in ourselves...cute piece :)
