Paper fish

Paper fish

A Poem by Relic
"

A variation on another poem I wrote.

"
Image result for Rainy Urban street in momochrome

With metallic clouds,
darkness gathers.
From the tumbling sky,
my shoulders splatter.
Street puddles boil
and gutters clatter,
while bullfrogs assert:
What does it matter?

The vat in the sky is now released
to soggy sidewalks and mirrored streets.
And neon lights flaunt lucent streaks.
Had water been wine, could I serve a feast?

For today,
I compare myself to a corporate fish
whose shoes go squeak
and swoosh and swish
near buildings that sit
like sunken ships.

So I'll mop up my misery
and swim away
through chlorinated walkways
this wet Wednesday.

It's down to a drizzle,
though come what may,
I'm a sidewalk fish
in this city today.

A thoroughly enjoyable little poem and a great image to go hand in hand along those dank, dark and seemingly very moist sidewalks.... Neville

pleasure..
I love rain, your walk through the rainy city is a marvelous experience, you made me feel like a paper fish as well. The images you present with perfection makes it a delightful reading.

It is entirely My pleasure.
It was the title that dragged me here. It's beautifully written and I feel that the title suits it well. It truly is enchanting.

Best of luck, Relic.

No problem. Thank you for the lovely peice of fine literature.
I don't what this poem means and I don't know what a paper fish is, I've never had one nor made one, (Is it a fish made out of newspaper or something like that?) but I still enjoy it, rest assured.

Ah, thank you. Just checked it out and I'm seeing what you mean by paper fish.
Nice.

I can't help but keep a cheerful disposition, while reading this, which can be trying at times; especially during inclement weather.

I shall remember that if ever I am caught up in a rainstorm, just trying to make my way home.

Although, some people could be inconsiderate b******s, during times like that. haha

I like the thought of the paper fish. The flow and rhythm in this piece is lovely. The imagery, beginning with the "raccoon colored clouds" "the bull frogs" and so on. Makes it whimsical and colorful.

Beautifully written Relic.

No Problem.
The imagery of this is amazing! Makes me think of E.E. Cummings mixed with Hart Crane.

This poem, like your other works that I've had the pleasure of reading, creates the most extraordinary mental images. Well done.

Ah, a place to leave a comment, but the comment isn't for this poem which is wonderful btw, it for the one titled "Thank you" ...which we are unable to say "no, don't go"
