Abandoned Writers Cafe

Empty rooms in empty halls.

Accounts silent - long abandoned
the words bankrupt
vacant fronts of creativity
washed over; hollow; run down.

Verbs sway on rusted hinges
the strains of old poems
cross pages like tumbleweeds.

Profiles shuttered - desolate
unopened for years, collect dust
while messages to forgotten friends
go unanswered

I still visit the profiles of old friends here, some that I know seldom if ever, revisit the site. Others are departed from life itself. I revisit their comments on my posts on other sites as well. I'll find one and say, well, wasn't that nice? This is eloquently poignant. I enjoyed and I relate. F.

As do I. They are like monoliths on a partways barren land.

I just loved this piece and relate to it so well. I've been here 5 years. The best way to enjoy WC is to stay focused on poetry and detached from everything else happening that's not about writing. True, we get waylaid sometimes but its best to shake off the dust and keep walking. Wish WC was more technically upgraded though as at times the website still behaves like its 20 years old! Thank you for this write.

You are most welcome. It was an interesting write.
I find this so poignant today. The few have silenced the voices of the many. I for one refuse to let that cloud my day. Apropos to me that you added this on my birthday lol We"ll all be back someday

Yes, it's sad and there seems to be a hole in the fabric of happiness and inspiration but yes, life .. read more

Oh Man this was totally me until last week. I lost myself to the bustle of a hectic life. Dusting off those poems and bringing a new shine. :) Nice poem.

Along with your penned words on how this is sad to lose members to silence here.
