I still visit the profiles of old friends here, some that I know seldom if ever, revisit the site. Others are departed from life itself. I revisit their comments on my posts on other sites as well. I'll find one and say, well, wasn't that nice? This is eloquently poignant. I enjoyed and I relate. F.

Thanks for reading, Fabian. :)

As do I. They are like monoliths on a partways barren land.
Love the poem, hate the reality of this since it's so true. I tried joining wattpad and that seems worse unless you beg or share your story.

This is sad. I just recently returned after a 6-month hiatus, and I know others worried and wondered about me as well. I just reached a point where I didn't have anything to say. Sometimes, life just wears you down like that; and you just need some silence. During that time, I honestly felt like a piece of me was missing. Writing feels good in so many ways, and I'm glad to be back. I think over the last day, I clicked to read some work only to discover that the profiles were closed.

Lots of old friends are gone though occasionally one or two will pop in for a visit. Perhaps they found themselves at a loss for words also. I'm empty of words all the time, I just hang around.
It seems so unfair, Tim.
We become attached to a writer through sharing poems, stories, comments, reviews, and messaging … then, they remove their works, leave with no warning, notice, or reason, leaving us to wonder and worry what happened, will they return, are they alright, have they died? And, when they leave their poems up, as though they'd kicked them to the curb, just abandoned them, everything we'd grown to admire, love, and enjoy, as if to say, "Here, you can have' 'em, they're no good for me anymore.
I've even reviewed some of them, hoping, wishing, they'll read them and come back, or just to feel close to them again in some way, even knowing they'll, probably, never read my review or comment back … it's so sad to lose those we've grown so close to and/or fond of.
You've done an exemplary job of portraying the emotions of doleful feelings, and the exact imagery of how it all effects so many, me in particular, and it's not just the poetry, it's the people I miss … whom so many miss.
There should be a rule that no one can leave without an explanation.
Good stuff, Tim … thanks a zillion for posting and sharing.
I hope you'll stick around, My Friend! ⁓ Richard : )

I'm glad you understood what I was saying Richard. Thank you. :)
This is a very good musing on the subject. I sometimes look at friend's profiles who haven't been around for years and wonder about them. Secretly, I hope they've just lost interest and not... well, you know.
Like the waves rolling upon the shore, we have some writers that we've known before who by choice are no longer here, but I wish each a blessing of cheer!
Yes, they come and go. I cherish those who have been a positive part of my writing experience.
I am here, and then gone for a while, yet I always return as this feels a bit like home to me.
Your poem sums up our experience in expert fashion! There are many who have become like family.
Please stay with us; your absence would be noted by this writer!!

Thank you for saying that Sheila. And thank you for the review.
This site can feel a little...abandoned at times. I'm guilty of not logging on for months at a time. Hopefully the lost writers are still writing...elsewhere.
I've been an amateur scribbler since 2009. You can also find me on Stars Rite under my real name Tim. Many of those poems are from this account. more..
