Titanic--Nearer My God.

Titanic--Nearer My God.

A Poem by Relic

Their ghostly forms respire now
With swells that churn the sea.
Relieved from woe - and peril's throe -
Nearer my God to thee.

And even though the forward bow
Is tarnished from time's rust,
A hymn still drifts the ocean glaze -
Where angels spoke with Godly praise:

"Brother, sister, where art thou,
Among the ship's debris?"
"In eternal peace" - they whisper -
"Nearer my God to thee."

Wow, this is fantastic.

"A hymn still drifts the ocean glaze,
Where angels spoke, with Godly praise:"

You created a vivid image while accepting the boundaries of the syllables, which is a rare thing to find in poetry (at least non-published poetry).

Thank you for this. It's like discovering gold, truly.

I appreciate your review, Anubis. Thank you.
Puts you in a bit of a hazy trance with the imagery and language. Don't have a lot to say cause I kind of just really like it. In the last stanza I think you forgot an end quote(') on "thou".

I thoroughly enjoyed reading and getting lost in this poem!

Oh Bravo I like that
I saw the movie when it came out, and was so moved by it that I had to get the DVD. Too many "if only" strategies that could have, and should have, prevented it.

You penned this with a pulse, Tim!
