Her goal for an hourglass figure
ran out quicker than expected.

- Her time was up.

Who needs a rope or a gun
when you've got Anorexia.

I experienced a lot of mental disorders growing up but the one I never had and scared me the most was anorexia. The ones who make a come-back from that have my respect 1000x over.

A very short but message received straight to the soul. A reality that should scare us all...

Thanks for reading, AiH.
The mentality of this disease ravages the mind as well as the body. Perhaps that is the biggest feat to overcome for those afflicted by it. Striking presentation, Tim!

Thank you, Kelly.
You're right, Relic, who needs a gun or a rope when you have anorexia. Unfortunately, for a lot of people, image is everything. Society can be both callous and callow, but the true problem is the image in the mind, the one that says 'you're still fat you know'. There are many things that can be dealt with, but the mind is a powerful adversary.
The image is a brilliant addition to this poem. A piece that is full of sorrow and not just a little despair.

A good write...a sad write.

The harsh reality of this disease that really does affect the mind, body and spirit and soul. To the point, it can kill them. If intervention is not given to give them hope and proper mental health to learn to overcome and fit this illness. Speaks volumes your poem Relic. raw, deep and powerful words. That express this might wicked vile disease in general.

Your very welcome. As of course It's true. :)
So powerfully written and your image, a memorable one, a perfect match for your lines. The fashion industry has much to answer for. Worshipping stick insects only encourages eating disorders. We need models who represent the norm. Some with some flesh on their bones. Eating disorders can be deadly. And using food as a weapon can be very powerful. Affects boys too.
