i hope that day for me comes soon. the rock and roll lifestyle was a short fitful phase in my life, i dont regret it, but im glad it is over. now the soil, the trees and the sky are all i need. and i also take a lot confort in talking strangers. it's often easier than talking to people who know what i've been through.

Thanks for the comment, Ern. I'm also away from the rock n roll lifestyle.

Splendid, sparely told contemplation on a topic that has long fascinated me. Some go to outlandish lengths to achieve fame, only to see it pass like all else. And many celebrities find it's not what they hoped it would be.
Each new year takes some much loved stars away from us, sadly. But their songs/music will keep them in our memory until our own day comes. I still love to listen to music of those whose music I loved and is meaningful to me. Fame and fortune are fleeting things like an elusive dream, dear Relic. A finely penned reminder that as human beings, we too, will have the same fate, one day and hopefully in the distant future. A beautiful tribute, well expressed and complemented by an excellent choice of graphic. Thank you for sharing, dear poet. Lovely work!
So many of the great ones are gone, but at least their music will live on. I loved the Cars, and think they deserved induction far more than many others. Perhaps he and Ric are together again.

It was good to return to this poem after a period of four years. Nothing has changed apart from time moving on add the fate that will eventually await us all gets nearer. A poignant reminder. Have a good day.

Thanks so much, Chris. It's always good to see old poems still have value for someone. :)
"and blades of grass replace legions
of euphoric fans"
These lines are just wonderful and will stay with me forever. Also, the applause by the rustling trees. So too, the conclusion of the poem. To me, this poem is one of your gems.
Fame, name, wealth, and all things of the world are so fleeting, so transient. Only the soil is our dark, permanent abode. The thought humbles me, sobering me. How forgotten will we all be and so near in the future lies this oblivion.

Indeed, it's the longer story we hope for.
