Au revoir, sweet ladybugs
And warblers flying south.
Greetings to the Harvest pie
That's melting in my mouth.

We've stowed away the fishing rods,
The bathing suits; the kites.
Now's the time to bid adieu
To flies intrigued by lights.

Snow is on its lofty way
To overlay the leaves.
And sit amidst the bulky ice
That freezes on the eaves.

Falling from the arctic air -
Each snowflake soon will cling.
Lounging like a group of stars
"Til winter turns to spring.

This morning I was looking for something to post on FB & I almost posted something summery for the pure fantasy value of returning to sweet summertime. I love the details you pack into your poem that bring summer to mind . . . those things writers usually don't mention . . . making your writing fresh & relatable! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This is a real enjoyable read, nice topic, rhyme and flow
As good a way as possible to welcome (??) winter
The ticks will remain here because we get 19 to 20 deer each night in our front area and I guess your raccoons will keep visiting
Our bear will soon be a slumbering

Thank you, Dave. I prefer Autumn to winter, but I'm willing to compromise. :)

What's not to like about this Relic, good rhyme, rhythm and lines that I wish I had pened.
Hope you are well

Thank you, Gee.
I love this poem with a difference! The end of summer is usually mourned and the advent of winter dreaded. Here, I savoured the pumpkin pie and bid sunburns and tick bites goodbye. A message that there’s always something to celebrate, even in adversity. Appreciated very much sir.

I thank you, DIVYA.
You make me miss the cold, cold weather of home! I'll be glad to share some of that pumpkin pie, my friend! Lots of cool whip, please...and coffee!

Ah cool whip. I remember the days of tilting my head back and letting it roar into my mouth. haharead more
I had to laugh at the first line. It got cold here in Virginia and then warm, and that's when the ladybugs and stinkbugs came out in full force. Now they are busy seeking shelter. We can pack away the summer, but it will return again. Beautiful!

They serve their purpose too. :-)
Time flies when you are having fun. Seasons too. I feel the loss of sweet moments and the desire for more. Beautiful poetry...

This is a little gem Tim. Great rhythm, super imagery and a message that we will have warmer days to look forward to, but not till chilly winter has had its turn. Really pleasant read.
