Two separate trains

Two separate trains

A Poem by Relic
"

Long days at work often lead to daydreaming ~ do they not?

From two separate motionless trains
their eyes met.

From two separate departing trains
their eyes embraced.

On two separate moving trains
they dreamed of a stranger
in their arms.

This poem was wonderful to read. It was made all the more special to me as it is so reminiscent of a romantic Bollywood movie seen. Loved it !

Thanks very much for the comment, DIVYA. :)
you've captured what is in essence the metaphor of modern life. random glances of random people randomly gliding past one another. I see the trains as a great metaphor for the accelerated pace of modern life, the tenuous link people have with many who are called friends, but have never met. social media may allow us to glimpse others, but it is a shallow connection at best.

Well said, Ken. Thanks for your thoughts. :)
Many can relate to this. Who hasn't locked eyes with a stranger? The use of moving trains seals the thought that their lives are separate. Strong write.

Thank you. :)
Again I like what you write. Succinct is good and not trying to say too much but in so doing saying a lot by allowing the reader to imagine. Good choices.

I loved this. It's so chilling and beautiful. I love the idea of trains and the way you used them, and the little plot twist at the end, seeing them with another in their arms. Wonderfully written.

Cool photo, too!
You paint this scene in descriptive technicolour. it has such a mesmerising and romantic, yet realistic premis to it as we have all perhaps shared such an experience. Powerful piece in a pithy piece.

Thank you, Cherrie.
Escape from the mundane; a yearning that sometimes bursts through--
temporarily intruding upon what we have come to know as "reality."
Fortunately, there is no end to the adventures we might experience,
when our desperate imaginations struggle to shake off the humdrum.
Very much enjoyed your Greyhound rendition of two ships passing in the night.
Minimalist excellence.
