Two separate trains

Two separate trains

A Poem by Relic
"

Long days at work often lead to daydreaming ~ do they not?

"
See the source image

From two separate motionless trains
their eyes met.

From two separate departing trains
their eyes embraced.

On two separate moving trains
they dreamed of a stranger
in their arms.

I read it this several times since Monday. This observation is really well done . I think everyone at their lives experienced this. At separate train they saw it someone attractive . So this is very good image cause everyone can relate to this. But then you put one more image there someone into their arms. This make this poem very breath taking. This very well done .

You welcome i really enjoyed .
This one could have a literal meaning, or the trains may be symbols. Their eyes met from still trains and embraced on parting ones. On the moving trains, both found themselves holding strangers. The preface may give us the real truth: They were daydreaming and finally realized it.

Thanks for your interpretation, John. :)
So very true, Relic.....especially in our current times. The eyes are longing with even more force than ever before. I love the daydreaming theme, too. It's infinitely relatable. Sometimes those eyes are all in the mind. Wonderful brevity.

Thanks very much, Inessa. :)
A missed connection. This poem makes me miss going into work every day.
We're still isolating, working from home. Nice brevity.

Isolation seems to be the new way of life. Such a shame.

Thanks. :)

Yes. I never thought I would miss people so much.
Maybe that's the bright spot in this?

What might have been given the chance..
These fleeting moments live long afterwards.
Top writing Relic. Hope you are well.

Just a fleeting glance is sometimes all it takes.

This is a perfect capture of such a moment, and as Robert observed, a novella condensed into seven extremely imaginative lines.

Thanks for reading.
This poem is very thought-provoking. Mainly I'm thinking how, in life, people are typically on different trains internally, while responding to something familiar & enticing externally, thinking they're on the same train. I often think about what you're saying here when people use the term "soul mates" (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
