Two separate trains

Two separate trains

A Poem by Relic
"

Long days at work often lead to daydreaming ~ do they not?

"

From two separate motionless trains
their eyes met.

From two separate departing trains
their eyes embraced.

On two separate moving trains
they dreamed of a stranger
in their arms.

How easy it is to engage in relationships of the mind, if only for a few minutes. Good writing, Relic.

Thanks very much, Ralph.
Why is it our eyes always lock on those moving away from us? Heading in different directions and will only be seen again most likely when not looking for them. All we can do is but hope that one dayour destination will be the same, but until then, our eyes will keep hunting for theirs amongst a crowd.
Great perspective, that I'm sure must have happened to me countless times, but i only thought of that after reading this 😀

Thanks for your thoughts on this, Lorry. Much appreciated. :)
I have visited your site a few time, but you were not there
You are a popular poet and it is good to see some trains getting you back on track

Surely they do.
A moment when we lost ourselves to found a stranger.
It's amazing but emotionally pinching.

This is really a wonderful piece, Relic.

I appreciate your review, HungryGhost. Thank you.
I remember having something like this happen.... Bittersweet, but extremely flattering!!!

Thought about him every now and then for a long time.

Long time, Relic, old friend. I see you’ve been here the whole time, steadily working away at your craft!!! 😊

Ah this is sweet, the perhaps or by chance of romance blossoming from an encounter from a first glance from across the other side their hearts did open wide to the chance all brought about by that first glance !

hanks for reading and the review, Katrina. :)
I like this a lot. I can picture two people at the same time wondering if someone is thinking the same thing as they are at that moment. Wanting the same things, etc. A beautiful & simple piece.

You're welcome
this feels so much like Hemingway...and reminds me of the interlude at the train station in "Hills Like White Elephants"---
but the man and the girl in that story knew each other...these two only linger on each other's eyes...
and for a moment, they aren't strangers.
but no words exchanged and what is left is still that thought...what if?
