A Cemetery Chill

A Cemetery Chill

A Poem by Relic
"

Oooooooo

"
See the source image
I think I heard
some eerie tones -
they seem to speak in whispers.
-
They hint of dread
and rustling bones
attached to formless drifters.
-
Maybe I'll find
a brooding ghost
inclined to share his plight.
-
And if he's kind
perchance he'll boast
of those he gave a fright.
-
Though I expected
to see a ghost
I haven't found too much,
-
but note this clue,
it must be told,
I swear I felt his touch!

I love cemeteries...something ancient about the energy held within them, many a time I walked around the local cemetery - love this piece - gave me a smile :)

Thanks very much, Ruth. I too have walked the local cemetery. :)
Those old bone yards
can give quite a fright
especially at nighttime
where the imagination
can create its own
haunting ghosts whom
reach out from the
grave and tap
you on the shoulder
beware. muhaha

I like a good mooch around an old cemetery. The one in the village from which I hail is hundreds of years old.
A fine piece Relic

I actually love old cemeteries with old moss covered head stones. So this write was up my alley. Great writing Tim. Looking in my crystal ball I see 3000 reviews plus.

nice write .. love the form and rhyme sir! I am one of those that am drawn to visit old cemeteries .. there is a certain peace and a quiet .. respect is required .. one doesn't want to offend eh!? very fine balance between dark and foreboding and light humor .. enjoyed reading .. thanks for sharing!

Thank you, Einstein. :)
A spooky write from you Relic. The three line stanzas work well and your problem regarding the separation of stanzas, is one I have come across also. Visiting cemeteries at night is not a time I would personally pick :) A good read.

Thanks very much, Chris.
pretty scary stuff...that tap on the shoulder and we jump ten feet in the air.
this reminds me of an experience a friend and I had in a Carbondale graveyard.
we were sitting on the ground and saw what looked like a sarcophagus lying on the ground.
We were watching it for awhile, not too scared. But when it moved we really freaked out.
Turned out to be a sleeping bag, with a couple in it.
What a place for that, eh? Boo!

ha-ha good one J. Thanks for the read.
The graveyard pictured looks like the worksite of Burke and Hare. Any hint of touch here would have me setting the new world's record for the hundred meters.
