Two toddlers wore rain

Two toddlers wore rain

A Poem by Relic

In the yard, in the fog
of a heavy downpour,
two toddlers wore rain
like tight-fitted jeans
which clung to them soggy
in moments of glee
through each spin and spree.

They giggled and laughed,
a thousand thuds,
as each soaking thwack
of their shiny red boots
forced a violent splatter.

But what does it matter?

For youth is but a moment
cleaved to a cloth,
made of a fabric
for future memories.

what a wholseome scene. there is a magic to childhood innocence, which us serious grownups can only allow ourselves to appreciate vicariously. in this little piece, you capture this moment with such equisite language. "in moments of glee / with a spin and a spree" is a delightful couplet. thanks for sharing this, and making my day a bit better.

Wow! You paint a very beautiful picture through excellent word choice of the pure joy experienced by two toddlers on a rainy day in this exquisitely inked poem, dear R... They had great fun as they were dressed for the weather and could skip, hop and jump in puddles without fear of getting too wet. While they were enjoying their time together, they didn't realise that they were making beautiful memories for the future, memories which they would take with them in their hearts all their lives. So beautiful, dear R. Love this poem, it is filled with such pure joy! Lovely write! Thank you for sharing, dear R...

well as I didn't see the first try all I can say is the second reads like a charm. indeed memories are born of toddlers jumping through puddles in their tight blue jeans and red rubber boats.

A sweet poem about the innocence of childhood, when jumping in puddles was much fun and standing in rain was magical, unaware it could make us sick. The joy and longing to be an innocent child again like these toddlers in the poem! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks very much, :)
I can hear the steady pattern of rain and the giggles of children lightly folded within it.
Plus it is raining 🌧 here today but I have been denied the little red boots.
