     rusted car

found sleeping 

     in the dense woods

I dreampt 

     of its past.

When I was very young I had a cat that ran away. In a field behind out house was an old rusted out wreck of a car. Many months after the cat had disappeared I happened to be walking past this wreck and there in the driver's seat was "Buttons". He let me take him back home. The next day, gone again. Some things, I guess, are simply not meant to be owned.

I wonder now about its past too. It looks old. I wonder how it got in that forest, perhaps it just broke down and left abandoned, perhaps it's a getaway van for a crime.... who knows! Thanks for sharing Relic!
