For What It's Worth

For What It's Worth

A Poem by Relic

Pulling change from
my pocket

the quarters, nickels,
and dimes
accidently
                f
                e
                l
                l
like
metallic hail
scattering
on the bedroom floor.

Looking down,
I thought of
frightened
chaotic cats
in an earthquake
that sprint and
dash
in various
directions.

When the change finally
settled and
calmed down

I scooted
them up
and gently held them.

Pennies and nickels and dimes;
Pennies and nickels and dimes;
If you have any
You have too many
Pennies and nickels and dimes.
