Haunted and Condemned

Haunted and Condemned

A Poem by Relic
"

A fragmented Life. Reflections on Identity

"
           Inside me, there's a haunted house .
             It retains unwanted anger, regrets,
              shame; the death of innocence.

            It's dark and spooky.
             Cobwebs hold hostile emotions.
             All that's positive and constructive
                  seems deceased.

             It projects psychological untruths.
Seasons of catastrophizing come and go.
Past reflection is hard to look at.

                  It needs to be demolished,
                     burned down and rebuilt.

                                                    Now!

The pasts regrets linger within us all Relic. Sometimes I wish they weren't quite as loud or as irritating, but you do what you have to do to exorcise those ghosts.
Personally, my preference is to do things I know they hate, like silence and meditating in silence, or reading in silence while wearing noise cancelling headphones, just in case a memory of them talking infiltrates my mind. (Not to keep the noise out, but to keep them escaping and infecting someone else)
But failing that, a ritual of burning should work, just make sure you aren't near enough the flames to be burned and just the memories along with anything physical from them should suffice.
Perhaps a mantra to remind them that they belong to the past and to go back from whence they came wouldn't hurt either.
Regrets, I've had a few,
but then again, I try not to talk about them in case I jinx them awake... so someone almost sang! 😃

Thanks for a great comment, Lorry.
Hi TIm, I like the brevity of this poem. We can become prisoners of our own mind and the negative thoughts it projects. It feel like a "time to pull the trigger moment" has come for the narrator. It is a constant battle to take the plunge and burn it all down.
