this is a moving write, a relationship explained in Mathematical terms. Great parallels drawn here. "two equations, that didn't add up", "brains travelling at different velocity, evading chemistry", "exponents of experience", "square root of confidence", just so well expressed! As they say Math is hard, so is a relationship, you bring this out so eloquently here. But not to be disheartened, there's always another test to give and pass it with flying colors. hope it works out better next time.. Best wishes and warmly, A.H.
Math has never felt so emotional. This is such a smart, aching way to express dating anxiety "the square root of confidence" really hit me. Loved every line.
I was always of the thought that as long as your thirungulator was pointing at her vidudium Waa all the math required for a relationship... right up until the point I entered a relationship and realised that I should have paid more attention at school to both maths and physics because it wasn't long before I got caught up in some stray Quantum entanglement without so much as a calculator to try to figure out how screwed I'd be if I opened my mouth!
And then I opened my mouth and knew no calculator could save me.
I even saw Neil Degrasse Tyson wave goodbye when he realised my mouth was gonna keep making sounds and not shut up immediately.
That square root of confidence is like that "when an unstoppable object meets an immovable force, but has a lot more sharp barbs to catch you out with and they really hurt when caught with them.
But if you ever do find an answer, please copy and paste us all into the update! 😃

:) As of this writing, not scientists nor professors of mathematics have been able to calculate fem.. read more:) As of this writing, not scientists nor professors of mathematics have been able to calculate female schematics in the brain or their subsequent results from centuries of study by the male species. If any results should occur it will make world wide news.
Thanks Lorry.
Such a strong opening line. You tried to make things work and it didn’t. That’s just the way the cookie crumbles at times. It can be disappointing, but hey don’t be despondent. Look ahead to the next opportunity.
A poem I’m sure many will relate to Tim. All the best.
Relic, "I failed her test"..your opening shows the heart of the author up front as someone interested in pleasing their mate.
"From the start, just didn't add up" shows you both were trying.
She's moving at 50 and you're at 80 shows your brains are not at equal levels..But who is?
"Opposites attract"...I think it just depends on the determination to make it work.
"It takes two to tango"...If both sides want it, it'll happen.
Awesome work!
Welp singledom ain't easy. Being ghosted, rejected and then some. The ghosting thing is super new to me and when I experienced that it felt like rejection. But there's positives with being single too like having time by yourself which is priceless to me now.
Anywho.....I love how you used math here to explain how you felt sooo creative. I loved it immediately when I read "we were two equations from the start."
I've been an amateur scribbler since 2009. You can also find me on Stars Rite under my real name Tim. Many of those poems are from this account. more..
