A Writers Cafe Fee?

A Writers Cafe Fee?

A Writers Cafe Fee?
-
The question has been put forth due to the site's failing health that a Writers Cafe monthly fee would help benefit the site as long as that fee is reasonable. The writer's online page is stuck, there are too many ads, a spate of spam is making its rounds through private messages and so on.
-
Charlie (the owner and Mod) is rarely seen. Would it benefit WC to offer a fee to improve what many consider to be the best online writers site?
-
Would you pay a fee to be here? Do you trust the owner? Is a donation page better?
-
Please share your feelings on the subject.

Hi Sir,
I liked this site very much, the layout reviews and arranging the stories, personal emails. It doesn't matter for me whether it is paid or unpaid. But I do worry misuse it. My first startup Writerscastle was made based on its advantages where it made few readers to writers. It was amazing when we vented it out. But when I saw this site is very easy to throw limes or stones I mean blame yelling criticism and vampire stories, I was thinking these things not to encouraged. Maybe if we take when such writings are made the admin should have rights to not to publish. Maybe AI should be there doesn't allow those writings even sometimes very bad erotics and sex showing pics. This I tried to implement in my site. But I had pretty good viewers for my site without marketing but I felt somewhere in India this site will not be encouraged because parents scare to read of write such content. I gave up my site thinking it's not necessary too much fun sometimes creates mess in life..

This is my view. I feel kids in china can get paid for their hardwork because they have real life skills at 3 yrs like my son just one matra held himout from unsafe environment. So money is not issue either.

Finally I think this site should be closed it doesn't fit in..

Jessy Jacob.

Hi Relic,
I think its a really great suggestion. A subscription fee could help keep the riffraff out. And we really need that. The owner doesn't care about revenue so an entry fee would help bring in a bit of exclusivity, make it a true writer's website. I don’t mind paying for a subscription if the site is attended to for glitches and regulated by a moderator for nuisance creators. For those who can't pay - there are umpteen other free sites. So it'd be great to make this, our favorite one, special. At this point, it just seems like wishful thinking, I know but thank you for this post.

And thank you for your input, DIVYA.
I’d be willing to pay but I also think that’s more of treating the symptoms and not the problem. And I think people would just get more frustrated when they’re paying money and the site isn’t being taken care of. I for one would be very irritated to pay a fee and still have to put up with all the spam, unsolicited sexual content, and users intent on abusing the system. I don’t even think the problem is a lack of revenue. The amounts of ads being allowed to run on here for free would suggest there’s no interest in using it to make money. If that is all he wanted, cleaning everything up even once a year would easily help that.
I’ve said it before and I’ll stick with this theory until it also proves to only be good in concept, but I think volunteer moderators would be a good idea. He wouldn’t have to pay them, he could continue to be uninvolved, but the site wouldn’t be so insane all the time.

Well it sounds like a reasonable solution, but can we also keep in mind the people who can't pay for it? There are students, teens and kids who're using this site and can't pay for the amount, no matter how small it is. So, maybe keeping some perks for the ones who pay is what sounds reasonable to me. I might not know the best in this situation, I just wanted to put forth the view of someone who won't be able to pay and would be left stranded if ever the site asks me to pay. Thank you for pointing this issue out, though. It is sad to see the site dying just when I thought I had found the place where my poems deserved to be told.

I appreciate your input, thank you, Cer.
I would! I think the format is easy and reliable, we just need someone to monitor its implementation. We could even do tiers! Writerscafe Platinum or something like that. Keeping it fair but incentivizing more spending.

If all are in agreement and someone can contact the owner/mod.
