The passing of time I dread.

The passing of time I dread.

A Poem by Relic

I don't want to age
and bleed into an
unrecognizable memory,
hair thinning, blood
slow as dark syrup.

Names scatter,
vanishing into a void,
whirling in some
unnamed galaxy.

A voice once commanding
falls to a whisper,
legs tremble,
body heavy with weakness.

Renew my contract
with fairness, I plead
I have grown
grumpy, afraid,
and impatient with shadows.

This body
once strong,
once beautiful

has turned against me,
forgotten me,
cast me out.

Really true, :)
Sometimes I wish I could be younger so I don't have to grow up just yet

Posted 3 Months Ago

I've often wished that when we'd reach a certain age, instead of getting older, we would get younger, giving ourselves the opportunity to relive certain moments once again, if only briefly. Unfortunately, death would still be awaiting us. But all we can do is live each day as it comes, with vim and verve...and poetry!

Wishing you the happiest of New Year's, my friend! xo

Hey Kelly! Thanks so much, same to you. :)
A frank and honest portrayal of the ageing process......I like the way you engage the reader here...just plain honesty, yet with that poetic viewpoint....

These were my favourite lines:

Someone renew my
contract with fairness.

Thanks so much, Budd. :)
Exercise, eat healthily and think nice thoughts, R. That's the best we all can do.
