A Poem by Relic

There’s a poem that will remain unfinished;
its shadow will
drip ribbons of blood.

Her imagination was forcefully executed
through brazen authority
and the bursting  ballad of bullets.

The verses posted will replace her;
will replace her voice;
will have to, now.

It's one less poet for mankind,
one giant leap for civil unrest
in this confused world of tragedy and unfairness.

As if her losing her life wasn't bad enough, the shooters own body camera fas made a liar of Trump and Vance too. She even said to the guy its not him she's angry with, its the situation she found herself in. No doubt it will be labelled fake news (again) and dusted under the carpet. Or just perhaps America will begin to see him as the despot he is and get him the he'll out of the Whitehorse and into a nice coat with wraparound sleeves and placed in a nice quiet room with very bouncy walls.
Well, someone has to stop him Making America Groan Again!

Thanks so much for this comment, Lorry. :)
Awful occurrence. Saw it on the news over here in the UK. Sadly she will be remembered by the harsh way she met her end. Your chosen words here describe that in a vivid way.

I appreciate your comment, Chris. Thanks.
A ghastly tragedy, this one. I just finished reading your comment about having the feeling Trump won't finish this term, and I have had the same feeling for some time now. Whether by biology, assassination or the 25th amendment, Vance is going to get a promotion. Not that he's a great improvement, but at least he has a semblance of sanity.

Thank you for the comment, John. Trump has been looking haggard lately to me. We'll see.
Yes, her voice is silenced now, but I hope her unjust death will bring change, and justice! The orange menace will surely burn in hell.

This reads like a reckoning more than a poem. The language is blunt where it needs to be and ceremonial where it hurts the most. “The verses posted will replace her” is a brutal truth—poetry as witness, not consolation. I like how you refuse comfort here; there’s no redemption arc, just loss, theft, and the uneasy duty of words stepping in where a voice was silenced. The final line lands hard because it widens the lens—this isn’t just personal tragedy, it’s collective damage. Necessary writing. Unflinching.
