A Path to War

A Path to War

A Poem by Relic

they've adopted hate
as the answer,
excluding patience.
~
they've assigned
vile language
as their position.
~
drums of war
ornament speeches
with scornful accents.
~
and so they'll march;
they'll refute
the enemy.
~
they'll intercept
and reimburse
with unyielding blame.
~
lines are drawn;
we've been here before.
Think the '60s
think Kent State
and the violation
of innocent lives.
~
The raven
omen of ill fortune
is on a nearby limb.
~
The fuse is set,
the wick is burning
an explosion's approaching.
