Flies in the Ointment.

Flies in the Ointment.

A Poem by Relic

A politician's promise is comparable to dirt.
Put your trust in shady snakes and you'll wind up without your shirt.
What's written in their bio is a shadow of what seems.
Their policies are counterparts to bait and switching schemes.

The flag they fly flaps in the wind of profit, and of greed.
With each new speech another lie is planted like a seed.
Our taxes and our healthcare costs are rising up my arse.
The price of steak and a dozen eggs makes my wallet sparse.

The government is earning doner's millions, gaining smiles.
The president wants more redactions blacking out the files.
We place our hope in politics and change, but it's no cinch.
Don't hold your breath, those rivals in the house won't move an inch.

Transparency is something that you'd likely have to buy.
Two protesters are in their graves, and I can't fathom why.
We now debate from videos who engineered the spark.
I don't know where we're going, but this nation's growing dark.
