and yet, we keep trying to force upon countries that are probably better off with their own system, whatever it is...there is a poignant scene in Across the Universe where they are singing "she's so heavy" and all the draftees are carrying the statue of liberty.

I once did a study on the word democracy. What is first meant and what it was supposed to achieve. It was an excellent and fair method of governance for a city. It was never intended to rule nations mush less half the world. Democracy was personal and the members within the democracy knew each other. The new the strengths and weaknesses of the people and promoted leaders based on their knowledge of them and the skills they had proven within the community.
To tell people that democracy is what we have today is an out and out lie and to pretend that our voting system is democratic is such a big lie that people must believe it.
