Struck a chord here Huw.
My friend told me of her pal who had been sent a pack from the NHS a year or so ago, which was offered free colon cancer tests but required a stool sample (all necessary gloves and containers in the pack). Anyway her friend was turned off at the thought of sending her stools in the post in the special envelope. She didn't send it and she died last month of colon cancer.
So true...so sad ...

Thanks for the nudge Tony. I've just passed 60 yrs and I've had one of those test kits hanging around for a couple of months. Your post has motivated me to do the test. I had to phone NHS Wales for clarification on a matter and mentioned your comment. The lady asked if I'd send the poem so I sent a link to this site.
