The secret burden of guilt
seemingly insignificant 
yet rearing its accusative head
as occasion arises and causes
you to flee and seek cover
where there is no cover
and run to who knows where.

Long forgotten yet accumulative

and hidden in the deep recesses of the mind

it accuses at night when sleep will not come

there is no peace where there is a burden

of secret guilt...
