Three of them...

 

Magus, Shaman, and Illusionist. All forms of a magician.

 

Three is the number of paths. Both extremes, and a middle, perhaps an amalgam of the two.

 

3 x 3 is 9

 

A magician works with four elements. Fire, earth, water, air. Swords, wands, chalices, pentacles.

 

3 x 4 = 12

 

Nine is the majority in twelve, nine can break a deadlock. Ninebreaker.
