Chapter 2: School time

When Lina and Cam find each other at school. TW Homophobia

Cam’s POV

“That was a long walk!” I say to my best friend Helen. We’ve known each other since pre-school.

“Yeah, I saw your bro walk into to school with his arms around his gf.” She says and mutters something along the lines of “lucky.” I’ve always known she likes him. Although I can’t get my mind off that girl. I’d never seen her around, maybe she was new. Maybe i’ll see her.

“I’m gonna go to my locker! See ya later Helen!” I say and run to my locker. Just then I see that girl at a locker next to mine. We stare at each other for a few seconds then she looks away and walks off…the direction of homeroom. 

*The bell rings*

I start walking and then i almost step on a phone. I think it belongs to her, the home screen says “Lina’s phone, stay out creeps!” I started laughing and giggling. I suddenly stop and i realize that I wasn’t just giggling at the Home Screen but at her emerald eyes and long hair in a ponytail. Do I like her…? Or is it just i think her eyes are pretty…? Well either way, I need to go to class.

Lina’s POV

“Who was that girl? I need her number!” I say to myself and a few kids look at me weirdly. “S**t” I say as I look into my locker. I’m a new kid, I don’t think anyone would talk to me…especially after finding out I like girls. 

“I’m gonna go to my locker! See ya later Helen!” Says a girl who looks like the one I saw earlier. Oh shoot its the cute girl! Just act natural. I think to myself and keep looking in my locker. But she notices me and we look into each others eyes for a few seconds. I have this sudden urge to kiss her. But I don’t and walk off to my homeroom. I later realize i lost my phone, hopefully someone will find it. Imagine if she finds it. 

*The bell rings*

I continue walking and stumble across this jock who looks like that girl. Same hair, same jawline. “Hey, do you know this girl who looks like you?” I ask softly.

“I mean I have a sister, her names Cam.”He says softly. “Why?” He asks.

“No reason, I just like her hair color…” I say and I regret it.

“Why are you looking at her hair?” He says a bit forcefully.

“N-no reason!” I stammer and look away a bit embarrassed. 

“Do you like her or something? Cause i don’t think she likes girls. She’s not ‘gay’ she’s my sister and im not going to deal with this crap.” He says and tells his boys to corner me. “And i don’t tolerate this gay s**t” He says and makes me fall to the ground.

“Hey! Leave her alone!” She screams and takes my arm and protects me. “I wont tolerate this homophobic s**t from you!” She says and i realize its her…Cam.

“But she’s gay!” He screams at her. “Why are you protecting her?” He screams louder but then a teacher comes over to us and tells them to go away and takes them to the principals office.

“Are you ok..?” She asks me.

“Y-yeah…” I say softly. “Thanks..” I say and we stare at each other for a few seconds.

“I’m Cam, its nice to meet you.” She says and puts a piece of strand of hair behind her ear.

“I’m Lina, its nice to meet you too.” I say and we look into each others eyes.
