Braving the unfamiliar

Braving the unfamiliar

A Poem by Franklin

We find shelter in certainty

Reveling in the familiarity of the known

Its warm embrace, poison ivy to our minds and venom to our bones.

Alas, certainty isn't always daring

Familiar isn't always fruitful

For it is also in our nature to thrive over challenges.

The thrill of dominion leaves us with a sense of purpose.

Perhaps a change of pace would better suit these needs.

An inside-out view of this mental bubble of false comfort.

Aye, a tinge of unfamiliarity

An encounter with the unknown.

Wild and unforgiving like a maelstrom

With possibilities spread abroad like dunes farther than the eyes can see.

Its beauty, like lush green fields.

Its predators, cunning and devious"human.

How do I survive in such a world?

Can I make a name for myself?

Will help come along the way? I wonder.

And wonder you shall, till you take that first step.

With your mind, reason.

And from the depths of your heart, listen.

For there are many a way to die in this new world as there are to live in it.

So, stay sharp

Trust the process

And don't you dare give up.

Nice work Franklin.

This is kinda similar to a poem I just added on here today, so I can relate.

I liked these lines:

Wild and unforgiving like a maelstrom
With possibilities spread abroad like dunes farther than the eyes can see.
Its beauty, like lush green fields.
Its predators, cunning and devious"human.

I liked the message here.....unless you try, you'll never know
