DESIRES IN CONFLICT

DESIRES IN CONFLICT

A Poem by Inkspire
"

Tug of war: chaos between unspoken desires and a conflicted heart.

"
Are you bored?
Hear me, just for a while.

A girl, a life.
Friends, family, always there.
Tears fill her eyes.
It’s their job, after all.

Craving the spotlight,
not for a reason,
not for a moment that matters,
just because a shadow passed through her thoughts
and she couldn’t shake it off.

She plays the silent game,
wears an unreadable face.
Jealousy stirs,
anger simmers,
possessiveness tugs her hair.

The wanting churn,
sharp little pricks she can’t ignore,
but too small to be noticed.

And then she gets it:
eyes on her, words for her.

At last, attention.
Her heart swells
with pride, with joy.

But then she recoils.
She hates it.
She hates attention.

So what does she want?

Inkspire
What happens when the desire for attention clashes with the fear of being noticed?
Can craving attention and fearing it exist in the same heart?

Self-esteem is key to living a healthy, balanced life. Never allow anyone to tell or imply you are broken or less…heck, we are all becoming. Great piece of writing, dear poet.

Indeed it can. That's why self esteem is so important.

Been there, done that! I can relate! So meticulous in putting on just the right clothes, makeup perfectly, then cringe when being looked at.
Idk, something about feeling like a piece of meat.
Great writing!
