I saw your face today

This deep, aching need

To be close to you again.

 

It’s been two years

Since you took me out of your life.

But I never stopped hoping

That one day maybe

Just maybe

We’d be able to get past all of this

And be friends again.

 

Best friends who

Would offer you

A shoulder to cry on.

 

Best friends who

Could make you laugh

During the darkest times.

 

I’m not saying

We have to pick

Up where we left off.

I’m asking you to

Give our friendship

A second chance.

If you want that person to read it, maybe you should send it to them? Trust me, I know how you feel... Once you have crossed through the friend zone into a relationship you can never fully go back. Sometimes I just wish the relationship hadn't even turned into one and had stayed a friendship. You did a very good job with your poem and showing the emotions you feel.

Send it to him/ her. The worst feeling in the world is having a solid friendship which is torn apart by a mistake or an incident which I'm sure both of you regret. This poem is beautiful, well written, and completely heartfelt to your reader.
Good friendships are not easy to come by, and they are not easily healed after such a break. But, it is possible and you can mend what has happened. Remember that "I'm sorry" goes a long way. Any good friendship is worth trying it.
