Dear stranger

Dear stranger

A Poem by Irene_asteris

Dear stranger,
Don't you think
How beautifully cruel
This fragile existence so called life
That cannot be even called an existence
But a term that explains us
Like an ill-fitting shoe is?

When you are walking through
A dark alley with prayers and an umbrella
Under a clear pastel sky of the first hour,
You come across a sickly cat darker than night itself.
And clutching your umbrella harder,
These prayers slip from your fingers.
Lost beliefs whisper the brightening ether
Clearing into the specks of misery inks
Is just an illusion of the final hour
And the invisible dark rain is just a step afar.

So you try to chase the cat away
Hoping that this dusk wont be an another night
But it leads you into the main street of light
And once you look up, the blooming dawn whispers‐-
It never left your side like an unfinished play of time.

But for the cat all this never mattered
Because the light never reached its fur, dark and dirty,
And before you could even bat an eye
It was already on its way leaving you to your life.

Dont you think
Just how brutally kind this fragility is?
