When Day longs for Night

"When Day Longs for Night"

He wakes in flames of golden hue,
a radiant king in the endless blue.
With every dawn he calls her name"
but light and darkness aren’t the same.

She rises soft in silver grace,
a lonely queen of the quiet space.
She searches skies he just outshone,
forever near, forever alone.

They chase each other round the spheres,
across the months, across the years.
His warmth, her glow"two fated tides
on opposite ends of cosmic sides.

He sets in tears of burning gold,
her crescent heart turns pale and cold.
For every time he slips away,
she blooms in night he cannot stay.

“What cruel design keeps us apart?”
she weeps in shadows of her heart.
“What cruel decree,” he answers true,
“that I burn bright too far from you?”

Yet once a year, the heavens bend,
and all their running finds an end.
The sky grows still, the world turns slow"
and fate allows what life won’t show.

For in that hush, they finally meet,
sun-kissed moon and moon-touched heat.
She drapes her darkness on his fire,
their silhouettes merge"wild with desire.

The stars all tremble at the sight,
two wandering souls made one in light.
But even love this fierce, this grand,
can’t disobey the sky’s command.

So when their moment starts to fade,
she whispers, “I’ll be unafraid.”
He murmurs, “Wait for me, my one"
we’ll touch again when cycles run.”

They part in pain yet bound by fate,
two lovers forced to separate.
A timeless waltz of dusk and dawn,
forever close, forever gone.

And so they live"apart yet one,
the moon in grief, in longing…
the sun.
Chasing a love they can’t hold tight,
meeting only when day becomes night.

A fleeting kiss, a cosmic ache"
reminding all who watch them break:
that even stars must learn to miss,
and some great loves
exist
in a single
borrowed
kiss.
