Sudden Change in CircumstanceA Poem by thiscatisalandmineMy mum died. Cancer. Sometimes I write angry things about death.
I should like to,
Tear the sun from the dome of the sky, And suck the sound away in the oncoming blackness, Amalgamate each soul, Into the desolate cavern mine inhabits, So they can understand what I cannot put into words, There should be a bell tolling, Echoing out across the patchwork of towns and fields, Trumpets blaring, Filling the decaying heavens with their tune, All these things should cry out in unison and in earnest, Only to be smothered by the flood of darkness, And all will know the world has changed. Instead there is only a gentle quiet, And a change in the temperature of the room, No bells, no thunder, no absence of light descends. The world carries on. As if all is as it was. As if everything is the same.
