Deadline ...in 12 lines

A handsome fireman carries a little girl from the blazing house.

~

"You've just saved an entire family, fireman!" Channel 8's pretty reporter 

exclaims, rushing to his side. "How do you feel?"

~

He flashes his whites. "Like a News-at-Six Hero, ma'am!"

~

" ... You mean, Just doin' my job, ma'am, don't you, fireman?"

~

"Hell no, ma'am! I rushed in and out five times for this spot!"

~

"You mean, So a family of five could survive, ma'am, don't you, fireman?"  

~

"Yeah, five! And, the name's Fireman Flynn, ma'am. Are we gonna make your deadline?"

~

The little girl in his arms blinks here eyes open and asks, "You mean, Six, 

including Sparky my new puppy, don't you, Fireman Flynn?" 

~

A faint yelp fades to silence amidst the flames.

~

"Schmuck!" Ma'am signals a throat-cutting gesture to her cameraman.
