Roll Away

Roll Away

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

What's this?
It's not what it looks like?
I doubt it.
No, I'm not staying.
Watch me roll away...

I came home last night
to a little fright
never did I thought she would
but I was wrong
and look at me now
I'm rollin' away

I loved her with everything
I kept my promises
I tried my hardest,
but I guess that wasn't enough

I'm rollin' away
from this place
away from her face
never will I dare
to come back

She thought I'd forgive her
I thought I'd kill her
instead I left her
to see me roll away

My old truck
listened to me
it gave me a slow tune
to roll away from

I guess it wasn't meant
I guess God had something better
I wish I hadn't got my heart broke
while I started to roll away

There's more road
 for me to
keep rollin' away

I can't keep roaming
my heart still aches
but my brain keeps
saying roll away
from whatever you can

What about her?
I hate her.
No it ain't ok.
I left her watching
me roll away...
