My Cowgirl

My Cowgirl

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

She's got me roped in

she's got me smilin'

missin' and a lil' dreamin'

This cowgirl I've always missed

somehow I feel I've always known

but never actually met

what's my heart doing now

My heart's screamin'

"shut up and trust me"
and I'm sayin'

"the last time I did

it wasn't a pretty sight"

It's sayin' "look right in front of you

look at the girl you've always wanted

am I fooling you again?"

She's catching me starring

she's smilin' at me

and I'm smilin' at her

I walk over to her

tip my hat

and ask if she

would like to dance

I'm crossing my fingers

for that one chance

To my surprise she took my hand

and led me to the dance floor

we danced left, left, and right

and we held another tight

That night, my heart was right

it didn't let me down again

I drove her home and

as I started to leave

she grabbed my hand

and I stayed the night

She's smilin' at me now

her teeth shining like pearls

with the sun reflecting off her curls

this girl's my world

I'll go where she goes

I'll love her like no one loved me

she'll get my love like she deserves

it wont be like these roads

full of bumps and curves

This cowgirl's man is what I am

I can't deny such a thing

she's asleep on my arm

and drunk on my charm

My heart was right

this was the girl I dreamed

this was the one chance

she's my cowgirl.

Thanks. I get that a lot. I'm not sure what is, but y'all enjoy it!
Outstanding it really tells the story of a man who was hurt and afraid to love again but finds the one and she pulls him into a whole new light.

I enjoyed the poem. I was station in Texas for five years. I like those cowgirls. Knew how to have fun and enjoy life. I like the description of this cowgirl. A wise man appreciate the kind woman in their life. Especially the beautiful cowgirls who allowed us in. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.
