i like this poem Its simplistic, yes reveals the human male nature of discovery of ones self during the time when those feeling awaken toward a girl. Also it could be taken in another manner how people are attracted by the bizarre and cant become desensitized by the "Freakish" All in all this is a reflective piece and definitely one to ponder.

Thank you, Neil, for your review. Yes, this is a tanka though the theme is a little less conservative than that of most tanka. But since the then editor or Ribbons chose to publish it, it is definitely a tanka. One definition of tanka I've read says it has to be written in 5 lines and is almost always restricted to fewer than 31 syllables. Also, it is generally written in the
short-long-short-long-long pattern of line lengths.
