I'll bite

Dear poetry

Kind mistress

An attempt to paint something true

on the canvas of life's infinite

neon facets

Poets share metaphors

like lovers share a kiss

Something real and true and intimate

To create

Give birth to rhyme scheme

Raise all your lower cases and capitals as your own

begotten children

to keep it real

and maybe dangerous

but always true

I liked the repetition in the poem. It serves to bring out the message more effectively. That poetry is about being true. It is an art that comes out of a very intimate place within oneself. All art form emerges from deep within but I feel poetry is way more a personal expression. So poetry must be from a place pure and true. There's no place for fakery and shallowness in poetry. I loved this poem.
