Captain Nemo (Part Three)

Captain Nemo (Part Three)

A Poem by John Sullivan

the sea

is an immense desert

where

man

is

never

lonely

the sea drowns borders

a place

where man

can

be

free

and

the

sea

is the embodiment

of

a supernatural

and

wonderful

existence

waves crash upon the cliffs

of his mind

of postscripts

and present tense

but the Living Infinite

awaits

wind in sails

and

the

Fates

all things pass

it’s

a

matter

of

when

there is life in the coral’s glen

the moving finger having writ

the course is set

the past is inked

let’s us pray

that

nature’s creative force is stronger than man’s destructive instinct.

may the water wash us

clean

for all the tides

and sorrow

the Earth

does not want new continents

but

with

curious

currents

new

men
