A Thing About Birds and Trees

A Thing About Birds and Trees

A Poem by John Sullivan

doves dance

in pearly white

but carrion crows

fly lower

still

hawk spots

the hare again

after all

it’s

simply

nature’s endless overtures

and

the lesson is

the rod

is simply the natural evolution of the branch

but what the tree considers

is lost on me

maybe

that eagles

after all

share a scientific family

with

vultures

carrion crow

will

fly lower

still

The city of Mount Clemen planted large hawks to get rid of the pigeons. They did. Now they control the sky for miles. Nature. It seems the predators do win. Maybe like life John. I enjoyed the poetry. I could see the predators seeking. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

I enjoyed this poem, filled with observation and carries a peace just like what nature offers us.
I love staring at the skies on evenings when the sun is setting and the birds are whistling away so sweetly..
Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome.
This is strangely observant and intellectually curious.

Bird watching takes a certain level of patience.

I’m not sure if I could do it. But to read about it is a joy.

Creative and thoughtful.

A bit late, but thank you so much, for reading and your thoughts.
These birds related by evolution yet so different to the eye and mind. We too related to other species but deem ourselves superior. Is it really true that by appearance we can judge superiority or is there such a thing? Are we not all related in this cosmos? A thought provoking poem

such lovely expression there John. I could watch our avian friends forever. The ballet of the skies and the music of birds is so uplifting.

Thanks Tom, and will do.
Out where we play tennis...we see all of the above at once.
It is a myriad of flying overtures and symphony...beautiful music to watch.
