Northern LightsA Poem by JohnLFor Emma's Competition
NORTHERN LIGHTS
Standing by the sea loch;
Ice crystals form
On silver sand,
Silver on silver;
Magnetic sheets
Clothe the polar sky-bed
Of stars.
Pines stand,
Everblacks
In silhouette against
swirling
whirling
tarantella-twirling
Stardust swathes.
Blackness
Envelops the all-too-brief
Flux field of heaven.
Eyes attune
To newly lost Arctic light-song
That played upon excited sky-ions
And is no more.
