Alphabet Soup for Poetry Writer
A - maryllis are enormous
B - righter than an onion too,
C - ause red blooms on tall green towers
D - own each stem to grow, it’s true.
E - veryone should have such flowers
F - or happiness and joy they bring,
G - rowing well in pots of compost
H - eavy loam is just the thing.
I - had one once, ‘twas four feet tall
J - ust because I fed it well,
K - ing of Amaryllis culture,
L - ots of blooms and grew like hell.
M - ind though; that they don’t last too long,
N - eat and trim they’ll never be
O - nly, - with a bit of luck and care,
P - erhaps next year, you’ll have a tree.
Q - ueer plants really, - never doubt,
R - eady to bloom, year in, year out;
S - niff one and you’re sure to sneeze
T - ake one home and plant it out,
U - nless your Winter’s are too cold, for
V - ery often they can be too bold
W - ith confidence from Summer’s heat and
X - marks their grave when they grow too old;
Y - et anywhere, they are a treat,
Z - enith of my garden seat.
Zenith is used for the highest point reached by a celestial body during its apparent orbit around a given point of observation – as I say – my garden seat.
